What cover should I consider for my hospitality business?

For hotels, B&Bs, holiday parks and beyond, interacting with the public brings risks. So public liability insurance is critical.

Employer liability and statutory liability are also important for helping protect against mismanagement claims, regulatory violations and more.

And machinery breakdown cover can be invaluable to a business that relies on fast-paced service. Our accommodation operators package offers these and many other covers.

What's covered?

  • Goods-in-transit coverage

Cover for third-party goods on limited carrier risk or declared value basis.

  • Legal liability cover

For damage to third party property and bodily injury.

  • Electronic devices replacement

In the case of damage in a claim incident or theft.

  • Rental or lease vehicle

Cover for the cost of a similar vehicle whilst your vehicle is being repaired.

Frequently asked questions

We’ve developed a package for Tourism Industry Aotearoa’s members that’s designed to cover your most prominent risks. (It’s also known as our property operators package).

The policies included in the package are:

  • Public liability

  • Employers liability

  • Statutory liability

  • Machinery breakdown

  • Illegal substance

  • Gradual and hidden damage

  • Material damage/business interruption.

In New Zealand, every business is required to have two covers in place: public liability and statutory liability.

Public liability can cover claims from third parties for property damage or physical injury that’s caused by your business activities.

Statutory liability helps to cover fines or penalties when you unintentionally breach certain statutes. This cover also includes associated defence costs.

The insurance package arranged by Marsh for TIA members includes both policies by default.
